The Eagle Has Landed

The majestic US Coast Guard Barque Eagle, America’s Tall Ship, has arrived in Pensacola! This iconic 295-foot three-masted vessel is docked at Plaza de Luna this Memorial Day weekend, offering a rare chance to step aboard a true piece of maritime history.

Built in 1936 in Germany, the Eagle served as a training ship before becoming a U.S. war reparation after World War II. Today, she trains Coast Guard cadets in leadership, seamanship, and teamwork under sail — with 23 sails, over 22,000 square feet of canvas, and miles of rigging. She’s a living legend that embodies America’s seafaring spirit.

While she’s here, you can catch her massive masts towering over downtown Pensacola. It’s the perfect backdrop for photos, and the public tours give you an up-close look at this national treasure.

Looking for the best view of the Eagle? Hop on a Pensacola Pontoons rental and cruise Pensacola Bay. You’ll get stunning angles of her under full sail or docked — plus plenty of room for your crew to enjoy the sights in comfort. Nothing beats seeing that tall ship from the water!

Want to see her for yourself? Book your pontoon today and make it a day to remember on the water.
